  • Safety, Common Sense and Affordability appears to have prevailed in the PA Senates vote to support HB377. This replaces the a part of the Uniform Construction Code that would have mandated sprinkler systems in the construction of single family homes and 2-unit duplexes. The previous requirement ignored existing infrastructure limitations, disproportionately impacted rural areas and added an estimated 10% cost to new home construction - with little additional benefit to safety, but a significant impact on an already depressed new home contruction market.

    Great response by the PA Legislature to correct an unrealistic regulatory mandate!
